Nicaragua and China strengthen cooperation in Vocational Education

A delegation of representatives from the Tianjin University of Technology and the Chinese Ministry of Education visited the facilities of the Technological Centers run by the National Technology Institute, INATEC, from January 11 to 14, 2024.

The delegation of the Asian country was made up of Professor Lyu Jingquan, General Director of the Luban Workshop Program of the Chinese Ministry of Education and Vice President of Tianjin University of Technology and Education; Dr. Zhang Lei, Professor Zhai Fengjie, Director, and Deputy Director of the International Research Center of Tianjin University of Technology and Education.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation in areas of vocational training between the two nations. The delegation of China learned about the advances that the Sandinista Revolution has promoted in 17 years of Good Government, in the field of Vocational and Technological Education.

An exchange was also carried out on the topics of education model and training offer, in addition, they toured the teaching environments of the Technological Centers located in Managua, San Rafael del Sur, Chinandega, Masaya and Granada.

Among the agreements reached, they highlight the development of a proposed work route to implement the "Luban Workshop" Vocational Training Program, the first workshop in Nicaragua and Latin America, with the objective of strengthening vocational and technological skills of young people and adults with international standards, specialization in teacher training and infrastructure improvement.

It is expected that on the third anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nicaragua and China, the first “Luban Workshop” will be inaugurated in Nicaragua in December 2024.
